Find That Pod # 123

Five Great New Podcasts

Welcome to the 123rd edition of Find That Pod.

A few notes before we get on to this week’s recommendations:

If you’re looking to advertise in an upcoming issue of Find That Pod, now’s the time to book an ad. Prices for ad placements will be going up very soon.

Second, I’ve been getting a lot people asking where they can find a compiled list of all the shows I’ve recommended. I’ve put together some thematically sorted list which you can find here.

Here are this week’s recommendations:

#Elder Wisdom | Stories from the Green Bench

Seniors have so much to offer society. Their wisdom and knowledge coupled with their life experience is often, tragically overlooked and ignored. Even worse, they often face stigma wrapped up in a nasty combination of ageism and ignorance. This podcast, from Schlegel Villages aims to help change that.

Featuring stories of friendship, love, tragedy, life, and learning, it reminds us that sometimes we all need to listen to our elders and gain from their wisdom. Your seat on the green bench is ready and waiting, now get to listening already, there’s a lot of wisdom to learn.

I know Dino: The Big Dinosaur Podcast

Despite popular belief, dinosaurs aren’t just for kids. And considering they are some of the most fascinating creatures that evolution ever wrought, it’s no wonder that entire podcasts are dedicated to them. And here is one of the best. Run by a husband and wife team of dinosaur enthusiasts, the I Know Dino podcast features the latest dinosaur news, interviews with palaeontologists, writers and other dinosaur experts. Episodes are usually 30 to 60 minutes long and if you have any fascination with these creatures, this is the show to listen to.

Powered by Audio

Sound is more than just the things you hear. It’s powerful, and has a physical quality to it that’s tangible. It’s something you can feel. This awesome podcast is dedicated to the exploration of sound, audio, and where technology is taking it. Host Randi Zuckerberg (no relation to the famous one I think?), talks to a variety of guests as they explore how audio shapes our lives and our experience of the world and how inventors and audio pioneers are shaping the sounds of the future.

Travel That Matters

Perhaps this podcast caught my eye because, like many of you, I’m having a serious hankering for travel. And while the Delta variant seems to have other plans, in the meanwhile we can all continue to fantasize about all the far-flung places we want to go. This new show explores some of the world’s most extraordinary travel experiences and talks to the guides that often make them possible. It’s an interesting look into the world of luxury travel.

Chameleon: Hollywood Con Queen

This is one of the rare podcasts that actually helps to solve a crime. But it’s not just any type of crime. It’s a scam. A totally bizarre scam, that on the surface almost seems baffling as to why anyone would want to run such a sham. But as the story unfolds, it becomes more clear as to what the hell is actually going on. If the first episode doesn’t get you hooked, I don’t know what to tell you.
