Find That Pod # 57

Five Great New Podcasts

Welcome to the 57th edition of Find That Pod!

For those of you that didn’t have a chance to answer last week’s question, I’m going to put it out there again:

I’m tossing around the idea of adding another paid, members-only newsletter with 5 more suggestions on a different day of the week. I’d probably make the subscription pretty cheap for now, maybe $3 to $4 a month. If I made that an option, how many of you would sign up? If you can give me a YES or NO answer through this Google form, I’d be very grateful.

Also, next week I’m launching something you’ll think is pretty awesome right here. I can’t wait to show all of you, but it’s not quite ready yet. Stay tuned!

As always, stay strong, stay safe and stay home if you can.

Here are this week’s podcasts:

This is Actually Happening

Be warned, this is not a podcast for the faint of heart. That said, upon discovering this podcast recently I immediately fell down the rabbit hole of binging many episodes. It’s a show about the true stories of events that have dramatically altered the lives of ordinary people through acts of crime, negligence, revenge, abuse, mental illness, and much more. This is as raw and real as a podcast gets.

That Creative Life

Host Sara Dietschy, who also happens to be a pretty successful YouTuber and entrepreneur takes you on a weekly trip through candid conversations with artists, YouTubers, CEOs, makers, podcasters and pretty much anyone living a creative life. A fantastic show for those aspiring to be a successful maker or builder of things that live online.

Talkhouse

The conceit of this podcast is that every episode is different. Artists (many musicians) come together to speak one-on-one with their peers via the podcast to discuss unique insights into the creative work of a wide variety of genres. From music to film, to writing, if you’re that sort of creative you’ll find this podcast quite useful I would imagine.

Smash Boom Best

For those of you with kids who are lucky enough to be able to work from home, you’re probably experiencing some form of challenge in keeping your kids busy. Perhaps this podcast can help. Every episode takes two things and sets a debate over which is best. Super speed vs. Super strength, Pizza vs. Tacos…. you get the concept.

North Star

It would appear that I inadvertently went with kind of a theme for the kind of podcasts I’d feature this week. The North Star podcast is another interview show by writer David Perell. Last week I featured another one of his podcasts because his shows are just damn good. In the North Star, David talks to all kinds of high-performing creative types. He’s had some big names on including Tyler Cowen, Ryan Holiday, Seth Godin, and Neil deGrasse Tyson.
