Find That Pod # 69

Five Great New Podcasts

Welcome to the 69th edition of Find That Pod.

Greetings friends! I hope you had a reasonably ok week.

As we move our way through the summer, I’ve realized that some of my favorite podcasts that I listen to regularly have proved to be a soothing and mentally restorative presence for me. I hope some of the podcasts I’ve recommended during that time have done the same for some of you.

If you are a relatively new subscriber, don’t forget that you can always dig through the archive of my previous recommendations.

Here are this week’s podcasts:

Scam Goddess

Fraud. Scammers. Con Artists. We’re surrounded by the unscrupulous. One of them even made it to the goddamn White House. We all had a taste of it this past week with the hacking of major Twitter accounts in what appeared to be a Bitcoin extraction scam. That’s what this podcast is about. Scam Goddess features stories of rackets, scams, historic hoodwinks, and those who perform them. A truly first-rate podcast.

Can We All Come Out Now?

COVID-19 has done some strange things to our collective mental health. Every time I see a crowd of people in a movie or TV show now, I just want to shoosh them all away and enforce some social distancing on them. NOT wearing a mask now feels weird and wrong. So when we are all lucky enough to rejoin society, it’s going to feel great, but perhaps also a bit strange. This podcast focuses on stories of those who were separated from society at one point and then returned to it, a changed person. Some really terrific stories in here.

Call Her Daddy

Sometimes we just need a little bit of lighter entertainment and fare in our lives. Enter the Call Her Daddy podcast. Relationships, sex, social scenes, and embarrassing moments are the meat and potatoes of this show. Cause you know, sometimes it’s good to laugh at our silly follies as humans interacting with each other.

Two Headed Girl

One of my favourite podcasters, Alexandra Cox, and her partner host a show about gender, mental illness and transitions that they have gone through as a married queer couple. Enlightening, entertaining, and truly heartfelt. That’s about as good as it gets with a podcast in the personal journals category.

Triple Click

Look, if you’re a gamer, there’s no shortage of podcasts about video games for you to choose from. And while there’s a plethora of choice, there is not an equal abundance of quality. That’s why when I came across the Triple Click podcast, I was pleasantly surprised. It’s actually pretty great! New games, classics, video game culture, and news are all topics covered by the trio of hosts. Check it out.
