Hope everyone is having an ok week given our ongoing pandemic predicament and an ongoing effort to subvert democracy in America. I honestly feel like I’m living in a movie this year.

Here are this week’s podcast recommendations:

Design Matters

This incredibly long-running podcast (15 years) is focused on a wide variety of design and creative topics. With guests of all creative stripes, the host, Debbie Millman has finely honed a terrific style for interviews that go beyond the surface. With a massive backlog of shows to dig into, if you like this show, you’ll have a massive new listening list to go through.

Doughboys

Oh sure, many of us are not eating at restaurants right now cause you know… * waves hands at everything *. But in many cases a lot of us are still doing drive-thru and takeout. This podcast is an homage to chain restaurants and their sometimes amazing, and sometime truly awful food. Two comedians sit-down and review the chains, the food, and it frankly makes for a very funny podcast.

Science Friday

Covering a broad range of science topics, from the tiniest microbes to the far reaches of space, this entertaining and educational podcast deals with topics like physics, chemistry, earth science, health, nature, math, technology, food, energy, ethics and policy, the brain, and more. Some weeks feature a high profile guest while others don’t. In any case, it’s a good show you should download into your brain.

The Sarah Silverman Podcast

Amidst the near and complete shutdown of the entertainment industry, many comedians have taken to the airwaves with their own podcast. Sarah Silverman is one of the standouts. If you like her brand of comedy, as I always have, and her particular brand of charming neuroticism, you’ll like her new podcast.

Movie Crush

If you know and love the smooth velvety voice of Chuck Bryant of Stuff You Should Know fame, then you’ll love this podcast about movies with a variety of hosts.
